The Sharps sporting rifle became known as the "Old Reliable" by those who hunted buffalo for their hides. Reproducing the Sharps models at a reasonable price ws a challenge for modern manufacturers because of its sliding breech-block and large, angular receiver. This challenge has been met and Taylor's is able to offer a wide variety of the most popular Sharps models for hunting and target shooting. The small Betsy and Half Pint models were redesigned to decrease weight in every way possible while keeping an elegant finish. Our line includes many long barreled sporting models and the preferred long distance shooting Down Under models. Amoung all of the Sharps models you will find the SPORTING model with octagonal blued barrel, adjustable front sight and double set trigger. The INFANTRY and CAVALRY models have a fixed front sight and round barrel retained by steel bands. Infantry model has a patchbox in the stock while the BERDAN or SNIPER model is equipped with double set triggers.
